That was a good time

Not just a bop, a cowboy beebop

I'm loving these educational lyrics with links to the references.

Requiem for a dream, but the main characters conquer their addiction and become knights.

Serious though, did you take inspiration from Lux Aeterna? The rise and fall of the music is very reminiscent of main motif in Lux Aeterna, as well as the steady rise in the music's drama being shared. That's not a bad thing, just was wondering if you got inspiration from there.

Definitely can visualize a story of fighting against the odds in this. Good job!

SokolMusic responds:

I certainly wasn't thinking about Clint Mansel's masterpiece while I was composing this track, but I can see what you mean when you point it out like that.

Lux Aeterna is one of my favorites due to how powerful, emotive, and visceral it is, but due to how often I've listened to it I may have subconsciously taken inspiration from that track. Again, it was not intentional.

Gives me the vibe of a Sega Genesis platformer game that ISN'T Sonic the Hedgehog.

Interesting name. some of the tones are the louder parts were a little too grating for me. The hints of Sonic music got me curious as to the inspiration behind this.

Morris1110 responds:

I'm glad you like the song! There is actually a bunch of inspiration and/or references in this track.

It is the second part to the track "Sexodus - Ascension", which can be found on the previous Figus album. That track started with me messing around with organ sounds, but it evolved into something kinda different (I think I was subconsiously inspired by TenseiMusic's "Bound in Blood" for the build-up). The melody from 1:12 onwards, the calm part after it, and the rest of the song, all the way up to 3:55 are based on/taken from a different song I wrote for Figus before either Sexodus tracks, that never made it onto the final album. The bells during the calm part reference Green Hill from Sonic 1, I don't remember why I put those in, but they were also in that original unused track. The guitars at 2:27 reference "Yeah", another one of my tracks from the previous Figus album. Then at 3:55, the melody and bass reference Ascension, while the chords reference "Nuttening", from the Sex Now 2 album.

When we named Ascension, I decided to make the track a two-parter. I think the name, and the fact that it is two parts, were inspired by the tracks "Demiurge I: Exodus" and "Demiurge II: Negai" from Persona 5 Strikers.

That is pretty much the whole story behind the track!

Robotnik? More like RoBOPnik

It definitely takes the right kind of skill to make a repetitive song sound good, and yes, you definitely have the right kind of skill.

It's not the kind of porn I'm used to, but I'm willing to try new things.
