I hadn't designed the navigator with that idea in mind, honestly. I just went with "chipper daughter of scientist gets paired up with no-nonsense freelance-cop", since it seemed to work well enough when Lan was partnered up with Colonel.EXE [aka the archetypal buddy-comedy].
